Just a reminder that National Night Out is Tuesday August 7, 2012. National Night Out is a national effort to increase community policing and public safety partnerships, and neighborhood involvement. We will kick off at the Target Parking lot (4500) Macdonald Avenue at 5:00 pm. Twenty-six communities have signed up to be a part of the caravan.

A short program will proceed the caravan departure.  

All coordinators have been asked to hold their events from 6 pm -8:15 pm. Elected Officials, City Officials and Commissioners are free to travel to whatever party they like, or with a caravan.  The participants are a mix of watch groups, neighborhood councils, non-profits, and Crime-Free Housing communities. The starred groups are new to National Night Out and this is their first celebration under current leadership.   neighbors have been planning for the last two months for this event, and I know they will appreciate visits from civic leadership to celebrate their annual efforts at community improvement.

In line with our budget tightening we will have a leaner presence for the event this year. We are asking civic leaders to help us by providing your own transportation. A list with the addresses will be provided later today.

The end party will be held at the Ramona Samuels Community Garden right across from 1000 Macdonald Avenue.
