Rosie the Riveter Trust Pays Off City of Richmond Bridge Loan for Maritime Center
March 28, 2012

Rehabilitation of the Maritime Child Development Center, a project of Rosie the Riveter Trust, was funded with some $9 million in grants from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment, West Contra Costs Unified School District, City of Richmond, National Park Service and Contra Costa County. The balance came from Historic Preservation and New Markets Tax Credits. Since proceeds from the Historic Preservation Tax Credits are not available until construction is completed, the City of Richmond advanced a “bridge loan” to be used to help fund construction pending receipt of the funds from the tax credits.

In February, Rosie the Riveter Trust previously paid back the first $1 million from the bridge loan, and on March 27, the final payment of $1,504,069.02 was made. Thanks to the Richmond City Council for supporting the project and approving the critical bridge loan.

Below, Tom Butt, Council member and Rosie the Riveter Trust board member presents Finance Director James Goins with a check for $1,504,069.02.
