The University of California now plans to reveal in early 2012 its decision on where it will build a second campus of its Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
The timeline for the second campus selection had called for a late-November announcement.
"We have been working diligently over the past months since announcing our list of finalists," Berkeley Lab Director Paul Alivisatos said in a news release Tuesday.
He said the lab had been overwhelmed by the response from Alameda, Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland and Richmond and needed more time to evaluate the options.
