  Catching Up - Arkansas Ozarks
May 19, 2011

If you haven’t received the E-FORUM for a while, it’s because I have been out of town for the last ten days.

First was a trip to the Arkansas Ozarks to visit family and friends and tend to damage at Deepwood by a storm that brought 12 inches of rain in 24 hours on April 24, 2011. Fayetteville was declared a disaster area, and several deaths were attributed to the flooded creeks and rivers. Our road was washed out and the pipes providing water were severed, otherwise there was no significant damage.

The photo above is the spillway below the pond with temporary shunts for water lines that used to be buried.

Below is the “bar ditch” along the road that washed out so deep the buried phone line is exposed. The photo above was taken during the storm.

Other than storm damage, the Ozarks are green and lush. Our manager, Christina, raises goats – a new crop of kids shown with Shirley, above

Settin’ on the front porch is big in Arkansas, as shown below at the home of my brother, Jack, and his wife Ann.
