RICHMOND -- Construction on the new multipurpose building at Nystrom Elementary School begins next week.
A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the school at 230 Harbour Way South.
The project is part of the Nystrom United Revitalization Effort, a community effort to rebuild the area surrounding the school that includes renovating the historic Maritime Child Development Center, reconstructing the Nystrom Village public housing, renovating the school and a new Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and Park.
