I urge you to vote on June 8 for West Contra Costa Unified School District Measure D, school bonds to construct and rehabilitate schools in West Contra Costa County. As an architect, I can tell you that the physical quality of places of learning plays a significant role in student achievement. This is a proven fact. Good schools are the single most important determination of property values in a community and are absolutely essential for stable and successful neighborhoods. Even in these challenging times, an investment in our local schools will ensure a successful future of our community and protect the investment in homes and businesses that many of us have. This is the best investment you can make.

The measure, which can only fund competitively bid construction, includes full oversight by an independent citizens committee, independent audits and does not have any money for administrators’ salaries.
