Iron Triangle Cleanup Tomorrow November 13, 2009 |
YOUR COMMUNITY HAS BEEN SELECTED FOR “A ONE BLOCK AT A TIME” Community Abatement Day in Partnership with the Code Enforcement Department and the City of Richmond Saturday November 14, 2009 in the 1st-4th Street Area.
WHAT IS ONE BLOCK AT A TIME? Many people don’t know what a code enforcement violation is. One Block at a Time is a special partnership between residents, Code Enforcement and the City of Richmond to combat neighborhood blight. A small area with code violations is selected for abatement and beautification. The area is inventoried for ill-kept property, RMC violations, dumping, broken streetlights and other issues. Public education and outreach is conducted to inform residents about blight. With the help of neighborhood volunteers, the City and neighborhood hosts an abatement day where property owners will be provided with assistance with yard maintenance, tree trimming, trash disposal, and beautification efforts to help residents with code violations. Seniors and the disabled are offered assistance to help bring their properties up to code. Only after the abatement day, properties that don’t come into compliance receive enforcement penalties.
