SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS DECISION MAY BE POSTPONED

The AC Transit Board of Directors will be asked to not make a decision on the Service Adjustment Plan (SAP) on October 14, 2009 contrary to what had been previous planned. Instead, staff will suggest that the Board postpone any action until there is more clarity on at least two pending variables that could substantially impact the amount of funds available to the District.

Most notably, the uncertainty centers around two potential funding sources:

1. A proposal to divert Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (potentially Regional Measure 2) funds from the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project into the operating budget and,

2. The recent State Supreme Court decision on California Transit Association’s lawsuit that now prohibits the state from diverting funds designated for public transit.
