Richmond Revives Historic Preservation

The City of Richmond Historic Preservation Advisory Committee invites nominations for Richmond Historic Preservation Awards, 2008. The nomination form, which includes eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria, nomination requirements, and submittal instructions, is available for download below:
The
purpose of the awards program is to increase public awareness of
Richmond’s heritage by recognizing individuals, organizations,
businesses, and agencies whose contributions demonstrate outstanding
commitment to excellence in historic preservation, local history or
promotion of the City’s heritage. Awards will be presented during
Preservation Month on May 16, 2008 at the Richmond Museum of History. The awards program, which is being revived and will be an annual affair, was last held in 2000, The recipients were: Shirley Ann Wilson Moore for her book “The Place Our deeds: The African American Community in Richmond 1910-1963:’ Richmond Chamber of Commerce for its 1999 “Honor the Past, Imagine the Future” map; Rosemere House – 1903 Queen Anne Cottage; and Lucretia Edwards, Historic Preservation Activist. |
