Awwww.... A Real Shaggy Dog Story October 14, 2007 |
For several months, a cute little shaggy dog, but somewhat shy, has been wandering the streets of Point Richmond. I think everyone thought it belonged to someone local. But others noticed it was spending the night at the Trainmaster/Reading Room Building site. Finally, someone decided to do something. Here’s what happened:
“Tonight, Steve and a friend brought a large humane trap to the Trainmaster building. Food was put into it and lo and behold, the shaggy dog showed up and walked right in. They carried the large crate to our house, the dog must have weighed 40-50 lbs. He was wearing a collar with tags, there was a name, address in San Leandro and a phone number. We called the number and yes, it was their dog, he had been missing since January, 9 months. He had jumped out of the car window outside of Kaiser Hospital in Oakland and they had just about given up hope of ever seeing him again. The whole family showed up in 30 minutes and a wonderful, tearful reunion was had with Bernie (the dog) and his family. The dog is a mess, covered with burrs and the like, but, once he saw his family his tail was wagging with pure unbridled joy.”
