Officers near the area of West Cutting Blvd and Canal Street heard multiple shots fired and saw several vehicles speeding from the area of the motel at the same location. Traffic stops were made on two vehicles and a loaded .25 caliber handgun was found hidden in one of the cars. The driver, and only adult present, was arrested without incident.
Central District
· Officers responded to the 200 block of 1st Street on a report of shots fired. On arrival, officers located a deceased Pit-bull dog. With the assistance of cooperating neighbors and witnesses, officers were able to determine that two male subjects, walking their own puppies in the area, were attacked by the now deceased dog. During the attack, one of the two subjects produced a handgun and shot the attacking pit-bull dog. Officer Robert Branch conducted the preliminary investigation and requested assistance from the Animal Control department.
School District
· School Resource Officers, working in conjunction with school security, safely and effectively coordinated several graduation ceremonies held at the Richmond Auditorium.
· A small cadre of Richmond Police Explorers, chaperoned by Explorer Coordinators (SRO’s), have headed off to Las Vegas, NV to participate in competitions and trials at an annual Police Explorer event. Our cadet corps has won numerous awards in the past, and we wish them luck in this year’s trial. |
