Help Remove Invasive Exotics in Richmond Park

East Bay Regional Park District has geared up to start removing/controlling the French Broom that has been inexorably overtaking the trails and native vegetation of Miller/Knox Regional Shoreline with dense shrub thickets, which now are covered with yellow flowers.

Greens At Work has planned a "mini rescue mission" work party from 10am-2pm on Saturday, March 31st, at Miller-Knox Regional Shoreline in Pt. Richmond. In coordination with the East Bay Regional Park District, we'll go after a large patch of invasive scotch broom that is crowding out a number of juvenile redwoods and oaks. The plan is to lop off the branches and pull out the broom by its roots with our snazzy  - dare I say sexy  - orange weed wrenches. The site is beautiful, right by the water, with a large connifer to provide shade when we picnic.

This is going to be FUN!!  Please come out and join us. If we get a large enough group, we can take care of this patch in one go. Bring water, sunblock, a hat, and gloves.  (If you have loppers or weed wrenches, they'd be helpful too.).

RSVP to Jane Kelly please at janek@migcom.com or 510-845-7549. Snacks will be provided.  Oh, and we'll raffle off some yampah plants that will bring Anise Swallowtail butterflies into your garden.

Meet next to the Ramblers building (across Dornan Drive from the parking lot).
