Parchester bus transportation funded for
remainder of school year
Vince Kilmartin, associate superintendent for operations for the West Contra Costa Unified School District, announced that an anonymous donor has stepped forward to fund bus transportation for the remainder of the school year for students living in Richmond’s Parchester Village. "This is great news," said Mr. Kilmartin. "The children in Parchester Village will have free bus transportation to Bayview and Lake elementary schools. Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, our immediate problem is solved. Now our task is to secure funds for 2005-06, and beyond." Currently, approximately 35 students rely on the bus to get to and from Bayview and Lake schools. To date the Parchester Village bus has been funded by donors, including the West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee (WCCTAC), the district's bus vendor, Laidlaw Transit, and a private donor.
