Vision of Hope for Youth Scores
Massive ChevronTexaco Grant July 5, 2004 |
|
On June 16, 2004, Chevron Products Company announced that the Richmond organization, Vision of Hope for Youth, headed by Ronnie Wallace, has been selected to receive a contract for $202,015 to implement the Summer Youth Paint program.
Sharon Craig Carter, Public Affairs Specialist for Chevron noted that “Over the years, Vision of Hope for Youth has demonstrated its strong commitment to Richmond … It is our hope that together our shared goal of enriching the lives of Richmond residents will lay the foundation for another successful collaboration that provides job training skills to Richmond youth, while assisting disables and senior citizens with a needed service to their homes at no charge.”
What makes this grant extraordinary is that it exceeds the total amount contributed to all Richmond community organizations just two years ago.
In 2002, the largest grant of $26,000 went to the Police Athletic League, followed by $25,000 grants to the Richmond Improvement Association and Mayor Anderson’s Kid’s First Project.
According to ChevronTexaco, the corporation made $48.5 million of charitable contributions in 2002, with three tenths of one percent going to Richmond. In 2002, Richmond organizations received $169,700. See attached PDF file for details.
