| Carlson Boulevard Improvements January 24, 2002 |

The schedule staff has put together shows
that the construction of the improvements to Carlson Blvd from Bayview
to El Dorado will start in the Spring of 2003. The Public Services
Department is going to Council for approval on a design contract in two
weeks that will allow Harris and Associates to begin their design work.
They expect this design work to be completed by the Fall of this year
and be out to bid by January of 2003. The improvements that will take
place will be similar to the improvements done on Carlson Blvd north of
this project. Anticipated are new curbs and gutters, install a
landscaped median, reduce the high crown in the street and possibly
underground the overhead wires. Before beginning this design work, the
Public Services Department will meet with the Annex at their
neighborhood council meeting and go over all this to get their comments
and concerns. One of the future goals of the Public Services Department is to get this type of information out to the public is to set up a paving hotline where people can call a number and listen to the status of upcoming projects. With this they hope to be more accountable to the public. |
